The best source is other kids. If its a popular toy, alot of children will have it. When I buy for my niece (who is 1 year younger than my 3rd child), then I buy what my 3rd child would like to get. She’s always thrilled with her gifts and if my child would like it, I know it will be a fun gift. I’ve even stopped kids in the toy aisle before to ask what toys they think are the coolest. They ADORE helping a “grown-up” and I really appreciate the help.

If I have any doubts about what to get a child- I get books. I go to the bookstore and ask about the appropriate kinds of books for the respective age of the child I’m buying for if I’m not sure.
If it is a neice/nephew, sometimes I write on the inside flap of the book with best wishes and the date.

If I’m buying for my kids, I think back to what toys they have mentioned to me that they want. If I’m buying for a niece, nephew, etc….I ask their parents what they’ve been wanting, or I ask my girls for advice.

When I have a toy idea for any of my kids or friend’s kids I like to check amazon.com. I will some times buy from there but for the most part I check their reviews. I have saved myself a number of times by checking there first. Good Luck!
