play mats, simply reading to your baby, rattles, anything colorful with lots of texture….

Mom and Dad are best.
Now if you won’t invest time there are zillions of worthless toys out there.

The best “learning” your child can get is through play and touch. Your baby will learn just through everyday play with you just as good as all the fancy toys. Most of those toys are not age appropriate anyway. Play with your baby, sing songs, dance, and show your baby everything, and tell he or she what it is.
If you absolutely have to have the newest toys, check out fisher prices’ website. They have a lot of cool toys for babies that focus on learning and development. I bought my son the stacker (it has a little pols and he slides the rings down over it) and he loves it.

Anything that doesn’t require batteries or to be plugged into the wall.
My favorites: ABC Blocks in a wagon from Back To Basics Toys (online and catalog), Colorful wooden building blocks from Imaginarium (ToysRUs), The Little People (just the people), any form of people that are small for little hands. Noah’s Arc and the animals that goes with it. Books, books, books. Lots and lots of books.

A good playmat is a wonderful thing. There are a lot of them out there.
Books are always a good idea. You will love it when he gets a little older and starts to look at the pictures with you.
There are two things that my son has that he loves and they are great learning toys for him as well.
The first is penguin bowling. Each penguin has a number. Right now at 6 months old, we just call the penguin by the number and he uses them as stuffed animals.
The second is the Vtech Explore and Learn Helicopter. The parenting magazine that I get had it on their list of best toys for the year as well. It has numbers, music, a mini piano, animal sounds. 2 months might be a little early for it unattended. It is recommended for a year and up, but it has a lot of great things there.

at that age you are her best learning toy, my baby doesnt have much interest in toys but loves to watch and copy mom. she is 5 mo actual age 3 mo adjusted age. I show her dif noises her mouth can make and she tries to copy. like mamama, papapa, dadada, lalalala, bababa, gagagaga, blowing raspberries, sticking my tongue out, clucking, she makes all kinds of noises now, it took about a week to make the raspberry noise, and she loves the g sound noises. I work on teaching her to sit and stand, she can now sit on her own and is trying to pull herself up and thinks she should be able to stand on her own, lol.
