Nah, I’m not getting the new Apple iPhone, if that’s what you’re asking.

If the child really wants it, and it’s not EXTREMELY expensive ther emight be a 2% channce of me actually buying…lmao. You’re probally talking about the iPhone, lol. In a short period of time there will be much better phones, so save your money for later! :) A child doesn’t need a new toy that he/she will soon be tired of, he needs a good parent that has money to support them financially as they get older! Put the money in a college fund or bank account and save it up instead! Good luck with this question, but I’m deinatly leaning towards NO!!! =]

toys are a load of crap and the toy will be available. I would take care of my priorities if I did not have money I would not be wasting it on toys.

No way, kids only like new toys for a few days anyway.

  6. By Jamie on Jul 21, 2008 | Reply

I would risk my life for their saftey but not to get a toy that they are going to get tired of in about 3 seconds.

  7. By holly_baker20 on Jul 25, 2008 | Reply

    Certainly not.

  8. By wigginsray on Jul 26, 2008 | Reply

uh, no. I’d be more concerned about getting my child food, housing and an education. For most kids a cardboard box and crayons is enough to keep their interest.

  9. By da3rdxsacharm on Jul 28, 2008 | Reply

No. A child needs a parent more than he needs a toy.

  10. By hoff_mom on Aug 2, 2008 | Reply

Obviously, no. The child needs me more than any toy, and for the reasons you stated, I would not risk my health, sanity, financial wellbeing, or anything else in order to get the toy, much less my life.

I’m curious what provoked the question?

*LOL!* What poor, underprivileged child is thumbs-downing all the “no” answers?!? Whoever you are, you poor dear, we’ll take up a collection for you! :-D

no….i wouldnt risk my life for any toy….a child in my eyes shouldnt have everything they want anyway….
ive found most of the time the novelty of a new toy wears out within a week anyway

I would never risk my life for a toy!

  13. By jessicas127 on Aug 8, 2008 | Reply

No, b/c a parents life is much more valuable to a child than a new toy. Just think about it.

  14. By repoed2 on Aug 9, 2008 | Reply

NO. N-O NO. Your talking about the Nintendo WII. Please wait till it goes down in price and becomes more avaliable.

  15. By coley0204 on Aug 9, 2008 | Reply

No. I wouldn’t risk my life for a child’s toy period whether poor or extremely rich!!! Are you talking about something such as PlayStation 3 or iPhone, Wii, or one of these gadgets that the companies intentionally make very little of to keep you interested down the line to keep their bottom lines up through out the year? I think they are very smart in doing so business wise but consumers are very stupid and play to it!!!

  16. By Tiffany on Aug 10, 2008 | Reply

    No. That would be stupid.

No id risk my life to rob a bank and cure the whole poorness gig - Thats the way to go brother

  18. By 1st lady on Aug 10, 2008 | Reply

never. My child will learn to appreciate the little things and not be a spoiled brat it will make him a better person

  19. By abrunette70 on Aug 12, 2008 | Reply

No. Risking my life and leaving my child without a parent is worse. I teach my child that you can’t have everything in life. To be happy and grateful for what you have and if you really want something to save for it. I tell him there will always be something newer and greater and by saving you may want the newer item and will be able to afford it then.

I would never risk my life for my potential child. What would happen if you ended up dying? You’d be doing so much damage to your child because they wouldn’t have a mother or father…and especially over something as silly as a toy?! In my opinion, a child shouldn’t be playing with a rare and expensive toy in the first place, they could just easily brake it.

And… if I was poor and had to support my family, buying a toy might mean not having dinner for a week! I think it’s selfish and unnecessary to risk your life for a child’s toy.

I WOULD GO TO THRIFT STORES OR YARD SALES BECAUSE THERE IS SOME RICH KID OUT THERE ALREADY SICK AND TIRED OF THEIRS WHICH IS BARELY NEW.

  22. By james.stofan@sbcglobal.net on Aug 18, 2008 | Reply

Nothing is worth risking your life unless your child was in danger. Toys come and they go, wait until you can afford the next new and better thing. Shelter and Food is the most important thing you should be thinking of.

  23. By maigen_obx on Aug 20, 2008 | Reply

How exactly did people risk their lives to get a tickle me elmo. Either the store has them or they don’t.

I would never risk my life to get my child a toy. I would risk my life to protect my child, in fact I would give my life for that cause. I would do anything for my child that would keep them healthy and protected, but a toy is a toy. They will make more toys. My parents didn’t have the means to give me the best toys. They did buy me and my brother gifts for Christmas and birthdays and not themselves. My dad even bought me a used bike and him and my grandfather restored and painted it. I would do that for my child. But having a living father I think is a gift that keeps on giving.

I think what is becoming more RARE these days is sensible parents to teach their children to in turn be sensible. I wouldn;t mind paying a little extra to get it earlier but somne of the things that go on for them now are absolutely insane!

  26. By 1M9 on Aug 29, 2008 | Reply

No. It’s shocking that ANYONE would consider risking their life for something so trivial. The circumstances you list only accentuate the ludicrous nature of “fad toys.”

  27. By shoujomaniac101 on Aug 29, 2008 | Reply

    If I was poor…. ?

No, I would probably be more concerned with putting food on the table; I’d hit up the grandparents for the toy, lol. Besides, if a toy is ‘all the rage’, it only means it’ll only be ‘rage’ in a month anyhow. That, and they’re usually annoying, noise-making, oddly demonic things.

  28. By cj on Aug 30, 2008 | Reply

Based on your considerations and additional details, I think you’ve already got your mind made up. You should go with your instincts. Besides, what do you want to teach your child?

  29. By lanay on Sep 2, 2008 | Reply

NO! I would not risk my life to get my kids any toy . . . I don’t care how special it is. I am trying to raise them to not be materialistic - a tough feat in this day and age. Besides, there are other things to consider . . .
    1) they break everything eventually
    2) their likes change daily
    3) if I bought something expensive i would not want them to play with it . . . so much for it being a toy.

My girls were young when the Cabbage Patch Kids were first popular. I told both of them that they would NOT be getting one for Christmas because I refused to participate in the madness. They eventually got one after the holidays when the mobs were gone.

I do not think it is ever right to go to great lengths to get the most popular toy –for just the reasons you gave. OK– I might do it if my child were terminally ill and wanted ONLY that particular toy — but that would be the only exception.

Parents are sending a message when they do all that pushing and shoving and waiting in line for hours. It tells their children that any behavior is OK as long as it gets you what you want.

This kind of consumerism is what is wrong with society today.
Its natural to want nice things for your child but there is a point where they need to be told “no” and taught to appreciate what they have.

  32. By arabmuslim on Sep 8, 2008 | Reply

No I wouldn’t. Going to jail or getting killed isn’t worth getting a kid a rare toy.

Never would I risk my life for such stupid thing

The people who chase after the hype of such toys are…..

Even my kids laugh at them too
