is it even possible to punish someone for the rest of their life? doncha think they’ll rebel or at least start asking questions when they hit 35-40 years old? hmmmmmmmm
Strange question, but in general I wouldn’t punish a kid for the rest of its life regardless of what it had done as a kid. I’d correct bad behavior until it stopped, then I’d never bring it up again.
no that is balistic why would you want to put them on punishment for ever there going to grow up and thats a dume reason kids do stuff like that just teach him that is wrong and dont do it again or he gon get one punishment for a week thats all….
no,of course not.But the punishment should fit the child’s age. When they are young they might not understand and you would speak to them about the importance of sharing and not taking something that does not belong to you without asking first. An apoligy would be enough after that. For an older child that would mean STEALIING which is a totally different matter. The punishment should fit the crime.
No way!
But sadly, lots op people can’t bury something and forget about it What happened, already happened. After the punishment, forget about it and move on!
Is it possible that you are referring to child *** offenders? Who besides yourself would want one moving in their neighborhood, if there wasnt a registry? Part of the sentence IS the registry, so quit trying to abolish it. I for one, dont think their sentences are harsh enough!!
No but if they need reminding becuase kids DO have short memories, I would do that. But, no you have to forgive, but they have to have learned their lesson from it…I know it sounds trivial because we take it for granted that “all kids do it”..but this is where we start to teach them morals. Not to steal for a number of reasons, mainly, it’s wrong, it’s illegal, it make the person you took it from sad/upset, it doesn’t belong to you…etc.etc….this is where alot of parents are failing because they just take the toy away and say nothing or ignore that it happened. This is a BIG reason why kids go bad as theyget older..no rsponsibility nor repercussions for their actions when young, so they think it’s ok, or that they won’t get caught when they get older. You don’t want them to commit ******* over it, but they should feel bad because they did something wrong. That’s what guilty feelings are for to let you know you are doing something wrong and you SHOULD feel bad about it! But for the rest of their life?…naaaaaa

in case this is for reference from you last question.
taking a toy does not equal a felony.
By Chels on May 17, 2007 | Reply
no. just tell your child about stealing and why it is bad. make your child go back to the other child and give the toy back, face to face.

For taking a toy - NO.
Assimilating them whilst playing hide n seek is a different matter.

Are you referring to violent felons or *** offenders? There is a whole universe of difference between childhood misconduct and felons.

Because your child doesn’t know any better. Criminals made a conscious decision to commit that crime.
