What are some good toys for a Bloodhound?

gsu asked:

Are there any toys that are specifically good for a Bloodhound or Bloodhound puppy? Things like rope toys are a given but I want to get something that will really interest mine.

I have Bassett Hounds (same thing, but short legs) they absolutely love rubber. Any toy made of rubber is great for a hound. They don’t seem to care for raw-hide, although that could just be my crazy dogs, but they are big fans of those little plastic toys with the edible bit poured inside (look at walmart, I don’t remember what they’re called, sorry) and anything they can chew on. They could give or take a squeaky toy depending on each dog, and my baby’s not into ropes. Anyway hope that helps!

Bloodhounds are sniffers, get something scented strongly (I don’t suggest buck attractant or other game) and drag it over the grass to make a trail. Place something at the end, on top of the scented article as a special treat. My dog isn’t a bloodhound but he loves tracking, when I make a trail for him he is in hog heaven. (Incidentally my boyfriend has nick named my dog Dorky Pig because of how his head looks when it’s in ground trailing position) This works both as play and training. Hide treats and ask him to find them (both inside and out) He’ll be occupied for hours.

I bought my Bloodhound a dirty rotten kitty (I am almost positive I got it at PetsMart)

He loves the thing and it is the first toy he ever had that he could not destroy!!

    Here is my Bloodhound Gus:

Do you have any pic’s of yours? I so rarely come across Bloodhound owners - and FORGET trying to find anything pertaining to Bloodhounds when you are looking for stuff that has dog breeds on it!!!
